The Predatory Vines are the main antagonists in 2008 movie “The Ruins,” based on the book of the same name. The Predatory Vines are a mysterious species of creeping vine originating from Mexico, growing on an isolated temple (but potentially spread further as a result of the depicted events).

“The Vines” are an unnamed species of parasitic flora that appears in the book and film adaptions of The Ruins. They are incredibly aggressive and will use tactics such as deception to lure fresh prey into their reach.

Extremely graphic and very disturbing. A woman has to have vines cut out of her body with a knife, including a deep cut to the leg and the lower back, during which she howls in pain.
