What is Hypafix tape used for?
Hypafix® is a dressing retention tape that offers wide-area fixation of large post-operative wound dressings, gauze and absorbent compresses.
Can Hypafix tape get wet?
Hypafix is the best product available online for wound dressings. Use it to hold gauze pads, compresses, and medicated poultices in place. Even some health care facilities don’t have Hypafix on hand. Hypafix will get wet if exposed to water, but water will not make it fall off from the skin.
Can you put Hypafix on an open wound?
Your surgeon may recommend prolonged dressing of the wound with a non-waterproof dressing (eg Fixomull, Hypafix, Micropore tape). Additionally, you may be recommended to begin moisturising the wound, with some direct pressure massage.

How do I get rid of Fixomull?
Fixomull comes off more easily when it’s very wet and saturated, ideally at the end of a shower, or over the sink if it’s an arm tattoo. I like to peel up the edges first, then get some unscented liquid soap and start soaping up the edges and lathering the surface of the bandage.
Do wounds heal faster covered or uncovered?
Q: Is it better to bandage a cut or sore, or air it out? A: Airing out most wounds isn’t beneficial because wounds need moisture to heal. Leaving a wound uncovered may dry out new surface cells, which can increase pain or slow the healing process.

How do you use Fixomull tape?
Cut strips 1 – 2cm wide and fix the drain with a loop. Smooth down Hypafix® or Fixomull® stretch thoroughly at the edges. Take the remaining part with the release paper over the hollow of the knee to the lower leg, removing the paper in the process, and smooth in place.
