Is 16+ Oyster card free on buses?
The 16+ Oyster photocard offers free travel on buses and trams and half adult rate on other TfL services to those young Londoners studying a Level 3 course, apprenticeship or training course funded by the Young People’s Learning Agency and some courses funded by the Skills Funding Agency.
Can I get a 16+ Oyster if I’m 18?
If you are or your son or daughter is aged 16 or 17, you can apply for a 16+ Zip Oyster photocard. If eligible, you can get cheaper travel on buses and trams. To be eligible for free bus and tram travel you or your child must live in a London borough.
Can you get an Oyster card from the machine?
Upgrade across London Underground means new Oyster cards can be dispensed from ticket machines. Greater convenience for passengers. Transport for London is making it much faster and easier for passengers to buy and use Oyster, by upgrading ticket machines that will sell Oyster cards directly, with credit loaded.
What is the Oyster card number?
The card number is the 12 digits in the upper right corner on the reverse of the card. When you register it online, you need not add the space between the first ten digits and the last two.
Does it cost to call TfL?
Most providers offer call packages that allow calls free of charge at certain times. 020 and 034 numbers are usually included in these packages. Outside of these, calls from landlines are typically charged between 2p and 10p per minute and calls from mobiles typically cost between 10p and 40p per minute.
Can you get 16+ Oyster in uni?

The university is unable to endorse or approve applications for the 16+ Zip Oyster Card. This is due to the eligibility criteria surrounding the level of the award someone is studying towards being below what is offered at the university.
Is Oyster cheaper than contactless?
There is a very small financial advantage to using a contactless card if you’re in London for more than a week and travel extensively every single day (weekly capping) but otherwise it’s no cheaper than using an Oyster.
Can I speak to someone at TfL?
If a customer prefers to speak to an advisor, TfL has a telephone line available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The telephone number is 0343 222 1234 and all calls will be charged at a local rate – which is often free on many tariffs. Alternatively, TfL’s online tools allow customers to self-serve with minimal effort.
Do Zip cards expire?
A Zip subscription card will be valid for a period of 3 years from the date of activation. At the time of expiry, you will receive a reminder to generate a new card for that particular subscription.
Is a new Oyster card free?

You need to pay £5 and add a minimum amount of pay as you go credit, or a season ticket to your new card to use it straight away. Once you’ve got your new Oyster card, you can use our TfL Oyster and contactless app.
Do Oyster cards expire?

The pay as you go credit on your Visitor Oyster card never expires so you can keep your card until your next visit, or lend it to family and friends. If you don’t need your Visitor Oyster card, you can get the remaining credit refunded.
Can I refund Oyster card?

If your remaining credit is £10 or less, you can get a refund for the credit, and any deposit, from a Tube station ticket machine. Your Oyster card will be cancelled when we process this refund.
How do I contact Oyster?
You can see your journey history by signing into your TfL online account, via the TfL Oyster App or you can request a copy by calling Customer Services on 0343 222 1234 (TfL call charges). You can also use your Oyster card to view your last eight journeys and the transaction details at ticket machines at Tube stations.

Does a 12 year old need an Oyster card?
Children under 11 travel free on most public transport services in London when accompanied by a fare-paying adult, or with a 5-10 Zip Oyster photocard. Children aged 11 to 15 years old can get free or discounted travel with a Zip Oyster photocard, or a Young Visitor discount.

What happens when 16+ Oyster card expires?
Any 16-year-olds starting sixth form, college or training will need to apply for a 16+ Oyster photocard before their previous 11-15 Zip Oyster photocard expires. Current 16+ Oyster photocard holders who are eligible for free travel will need to renew their application for the new academic year.
Are old Oyster cards still valid?
Your first-generation Oyster card will then be stopped so no one can use it. If you paid a deposit for your first-generation Oyster card, it will be refunded to your contactless and Oyster account. If you set up Auto top-up on your first-generation Oyster card, it will be set up automatically on your new card.
Can two people share an Oyster card?
If you only have pay as you go credit on your Oyster card, you can lend it to someone else. Two people can’t use the same contactless or Oyster card for a journey. If you have a Travelcard, Bus & Tram Pass or discount added to your Oyster card, you can’t lend it to someone else.
