Are Copic refills free?

Do copics dry out if you dont use them?
Our markers are alcohol-based so if you forget to close the cap the alcohol will evaporate and the nib will dry out. Depending on how long the cap was off you may still be able to use the marker. However, if the cotton inside the marker dries out, it will not be usable for a long time.
