What is Tyvek fabric used for?
Tyvek® is available in both a hard structure, used for HomeWrap envelopes and medical packaging applications, and a soft structure, fabric-like finish used for protective apparel and consumer applications.
Is Tyvek translucent?

How waterproof is Tyvek?
Tyvek is waterproof in the sense that its structure remains stable and unaffected even when submersed in water, it’s just as strong when it’s wet as when it’s dry. In terms of water penetration, water droplets will not ‘wet’ and soak into the surface, they will simply remain as droplets on the surface.
Can you wash Tyvek in a washing machine?
No bleach – or machine wash, gentle cycle, cold water. Drip dry only. Do not put in a dryer, dry clean, or use an iron on this fabric.
Is Tyvek completely waterproof?
It is completely waterproof, and keeps all of its strength when wet. It is easy to sterilize, and once made into packaging is able to maintain sterile for many years. For this reason, Tyvek material has been used in a vast variety of contexts over the past 60 years.

Is tar paper as good as Tyvek?
Both Tyvek and tar paper make great water barrier options, but they have advantages and disadvantages that set them apart from each other. Tyvek offers more permeability but less longevity, and you find it near the exterior siding. Tar paper withstands high moisture levels, but it can crack in freezing temperatures.
Can you cut Tyvek with scissors?

What is best glue for Tyvek?

Do you tape the bottom of house wrap?
