Can you rekey an emtek lock?
Unlike their more bulky commercial cousins, the Emtek electronic locks are smaller and look at home on the wooden door typical of a residential property. As a backup to technology, the EMtouch still has a traditional keyed cylinder which any locksmith can replace or rekey if needed.
Can emtek keys be copied?
Duplicate keys work perfectly for my emtek locks. None of the local hardware stores were able to make copies that worked.
Should you change the locks when you buy a new house?
When you move into a new home, you should change the locks on your house. You have no idea how many copies of the house keys are floating around out there from the previous homeowners, so changing the locks will keep your new house more secure. Tom recommends changing the locks whenever a new home is purchased.
Are emtek locks any good?

How do you change an emtek door knob?
- Rotate key counterclockwise 90º while pressing wire into hole.
- Slide knob off stem.
- Small hole should face down.
- Adjust and Install Latch.
- Adjusting for appropriate backset.
- Fasten Adjustable Latch using two #8 x 3/4” Wood Screws (provided).
- Remove Inside Rosette.
Are Emtek door knobs non-locking?
Passage Knobs Emtek passage doorknobs are non-locking. These are great for hall doors or closet doors that do not need to lock, but a latching mechanism is still required. Also use a passage function knob along with an Emtek deadbolt for keyed entry.

All Emtek orders are assembled and shipped from California. Because of the quality of the locks and their customizable nature, doorknob orders are assembled at the time of the order. Please allow 3-5 days before shipment.
