SOAS Staff and Research students (MPhil/PhD) may apply for borrowing membership via SCONUL Access. Taught postgraduate (MA/MSc etc) and undergraduate students may use the College’s libraries on a reference only basis for material not held by SOAS.

Can anyone use the SOAS library?
Information for SOAS staff and students can be found on My SOAS. Everyone is welcome to join the Library in some way and make use of our extensive collections, even if it’s only for one day. After your membership application has been processed, we will contact you to arrange booking of your first visit to the library.
Can SOAS students use UCL facilities?
There is a reciprocal arrangement between SOAS and UCL, which allows Taught Postgraduates of each College special privileges over and above those usually offered to University of London members.

Is SOAS better than Queen Mary?
As you have correctly highlighted, SOAS has a particular focus on applied regional economics (South Asia, Africa, and East Asia) whereas QMUL will give you a more traditional theoretical training in economics. Personally, I’d recommend QMUL over SOAS.
