Is the Smsts exam difficult?
SMSTS is a demanding exam, but you can make things so much easier for yourself if you have a good preparation plan. Past SMSTS exam questions are not available and course providers are forbidden from sharing them under the Site Safety Plus Scheme Rules set by the Construction Industry Training Board.
What is the pass mark for the Smsts test?
The examination pass mark is 80% (28 out of 35). The paper consists of 20 multiple choice questions and 5 short written questions. There are 5 safety critical questions in each exam paper. The delegate must get all 5 of these questions correct to pass the exam.
Can you fail the Smsts course?
What happens if I fail the SMSTS examination or trainer review? We have an excellent pass rate of 95 percent. However, the exam can be re-taken within 90 days if necessary. If a candidate passes the trainer review but fails the final examination, the candidate may re-sit the examination (depending on their mark).

Can you fail Smsts refresher?
You get one more chance to achieve a pass. There is a different dedicated SMSTS Refresher re-sit online exam allocated which is different to the exam taken earlier. If you fail to achieve a pass, you will need to resit the whole course. If successful you will receive your digital certificate within 2 weeks.

Can you get a Black CSCS card with SMSTS? The short answer is no, an SMSTS certificate is not enough to allow you to gain a black managers CSCS card in the construction industry, or any CSCS card for that matter.

Do I need CSCS if I have SMSTS? It is recommended for all onsite workers at a construction site to hold a valid CSCS card. This includes those who have an SMSTS certification or qualifications relevant to becoming a site manager.
Are black CSCS cards being phased out?
CSCS now wants all cardholders to be qualified with a construction-related NVQ, therefore from January 2020, all cards will expire by December 2024 at the latest.
Are they scrapping CSCS cards?
