All applicants undergo a competitive admissions process involving the review of grades, teacher evaluations, student essays, and SAT scores. Historically, approximately one-third of applicants in any given year are admitted.
Do you live at IMSA?
At IMSA, all of our students live with roommates. We do not have any single rooms. Incoming sophomores can request a specific roommate if they know someone else attending IMSA. Otherwise, roommates are matched based on survey responses and shared interests.
How do you get into Illinois Math and Science Academy?
All eligible applicants must submit a completed online application to be considered for admission. Only students in the 8th or 9th grade can apply to IMSA. Students who are admitted after their 8th-grade year would start IMSA as 10th graders as IMSA does not have a 9th-grade class. There is no fee to apply.
