Is Vectibix a chemotherapy?
About Vectibix® (panitumumab)
With this approval, Vectibix became the first-and-only biologic therapy indicated for use with FOLFOX, one of the most commonly used chemotherapy regimens, in the first-line treatment of mCRC for patients with wild-type KRAS mCRC.
How is Vectibix administered?
The recommended dose of Vectibix is 6 mg/kg, administered as an intravenous infusion over 60 minutes, every 14 days. Doses higher than 1000 mg should be administered over 90 minutes [see Dosage and Administration (2.2)].
How effective is Vectibix?
The prospective study showed that the median overall survival for patients treated with Vectibix was 10.4 months compared to 10 months for patients treated with Erbitux. Progression-free survival was a median of 4.1 months in patients treated with Vectibix versus 4.4 months in patients treated with Erbitux.
How do you treat Vectibix rash?
Use a thick, alcohol-free emollient lotion or cream on your skin at least twice a day, including right after bathing. Avoid sun exposure, as it can worsen the rash or cause a severe burn. Use sunscreen with an SPF of 30 or higher and wear a hat and sunglasses to protect your head and face from the sun.
Does vectibix shrink tumors?
FOLFIRI + panitumumab is given to shrink tumors and decrease symptoms of colon cancer and is not commonly given with the goal of cure.
Does vectibix cause hair loss?
You could lose all your hair. This includes your eyelashes, eyebrows, underarm, leg and sometimes pubic hair. Your hair will usually grow back once treatment has finished but it is likely to be softer. It may grow back a different colour or be curlier than before.

How long does it take Vectibix to work?
Nearly everyone who has panitumumab will have a skin reaction. The reaction usually starts about 10 days after the start of treatment and gets better within a month of finishing treatment.
How long does Vectibix stay in system?
Your skin and vision may also need to be checked. Panitumumab can have long lasting effects on your body. You may need frequent medical tests for up to 8 weeks after you stop using this medicine.
Can vectibix cause eye problems?
Tell your doctor if you have new or worsening skin reactions. Inflammation of the eye and injury to the cornea have been reported. Tell your doctor if you have any vision changes or eye problems. If you experience any of these side effects or they worsen, your doctor should interrupt or discontinue Vectibix ®.
