British Film Institute Archive holds the most important collection in the UK relating to the history of film and television.
What happened British Pathe?
It was run by Pathé Exchange and then RKO Radio Pictures, which shut down the film production arm. Warner Brothers purchased the newsreel arm in 1947 before selling it to Studio Films. Pathé News disappeared from cinemas in the 1950s. Its archive is now owned by the Sherman Grinberg Film Library.
