Can I take summer classes at UIC?
Whether you’re already enrolled at UIC or you attend another university, use the flexibility of summer at UIC to achieve your goals. Choose from nearly 300 courses. Enroll in the 4-week session, 8-week session, or both.
How many summer classes can I take UIC?

Undergraduate students can register for up to 12 total credit hours–either as a combination of courses taken in the 4-week and 8-week sessions, or just courses taken in the 8-week session. Graduate students can take up to 20 credit hours over the summer.

Does fafsa cover summer classes at UIC?
The FAFSA completed for the academic year 2020-2021 applies to Summer 2021. All degree-seeking students who have a FAFSA on file with Office of Student Financial Aid will automatically be considered for financial aid after they register for summer courses.

Once you’ve filled out the FAFSA, your eligibility will be based on other factors that may be more applicable to the summer session. You will need to be registered for classes at least half-time (which is usually six credits) in order to qualify for federal loans for summer classes.
Does FAFSA give money for summer classes?
Fortunately, the FAFSA can cover some or all of the cost of your summer classes, depending on your school and aid eligibility. Check with your financial aid office to be sure, though. But whether it does or not, you can also fund your summer term through outside scholarships and grants.
