Does Timbrens increase payload?
Even though an installed Timbren SES kit will enhance your vehicle’s performance, this will not increase the payload. It will increase your spring rate – not the payload. You need to pay attention to your truck’s load rating and be careful not to exceed the manufacturer’s weight rating for the vehicle.
Do Timbren springs work?
Timbrens incorporate AEON hollow rubber springs, which aid your existing leaf springs in the handling of rough road conditions. Can you go over max payload?
If you go over the payload capacity, you run the risk of breaking your truck’s suspension and even voiding your warranty. Thankfully, there is a way to calculate exactly how much weight your truck can handle, known as the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating.
How can I increase my trucks payload capacity?
The only way to boost the payload rating is to take weight off the truck: removing the rear seat or bumper, using lighter wheels and/or tires that meet gross axle weight rating requirements, and so on.
How much space should be between Timbren and axle?
between ½” and 1 ½”
While unloaded, the gap between rubber spring and axle should be somewhere between ½” and 1 ½” . 3″ of clearance ensures that the rubber spring won’t interfere with the natural vibration of the suspension. Unfortunately, the frame will drop 3” before the rubber spring engages with the axle.
Are Timbren SES worth it?
One of the biggest benefits that we’ve been able to derive from the Timbren SES is a smoother, better ride off-road. We no longer bottom out when hitting surprise bumps and holes and that alone is worth the investment in that it protects my rig from damaging shocks and vibrations.
How do I keep my truck from sagging when towing?
More Springs
One of the most inexpensive and easiest ways to get a little lift from the rear of your truck is by installing an add-a-leaf. An add-a-leaf, such as the ones available from Rancho Suspension, is placed within your truck’s spring pack to help increase support and lift.
Is it easier to tow with lifted truck?
There are basically two reasons why a lifted truck is less than ideal for towing: First, the extra-height of a lifted truck will make it difficult to keep the trailer stable. When you change the factory geometry of a standard suspension, you change a lot of things. One of them is the location of the hitch.
Does adding a leaf increase payload?
Does Adding Leaf Springs Increase Load Suspension? The purpose of the installing a new leaf isn’t to increase the capacity of the load that a vehicle can handle. Vehicles are designed to only carry a certain amount of weight before things such as tyres, axles and the overall suspension system is compromised.
Do air bags increase payload?
Can adding an airbag to your existing suspension allow you to carry increased payloads or tow heavier trailers? The simple answer is, no! It’s important to remember that the addition of any airbag system does not allow higher payloads or towing capacity to your current vehicle.

Is it OK for my truck to squat when towing?
Despite pickup trucks having a reputation for squatting, squatting is not normal and should be prevented before it starts. Visibly squatting while towing is a sign that your leaf springs have already been damaged from carrying over-capacity loads.

Expert Reply: A body lift does not affect towing since it’s only the body of your vehicle that’s being raised; the stock suspension and wheels remain at their original height.
