Can I donate to myself on DonorsChoose?

Choose to donate monthly at a self-specified dollar amount. We’ll charge you today and give you account credits that you can use to support projects that inspire you over the next 12 months.
Does DonorsChoose take a percentage?
We encourage donors to dedicate 15% of each donation to support the work that we do. Donors’ inclusion of this suggested donation enables us to pay our bills, our rent, and our employees. It’s the only way we’re able to continue supporting public schools nationwide.
Is DonorsChoose a nonprofit?
As a teacher-founded nonprofit, we’re trusted by teachers, donors, administrators, and partner organizations across the country.
How many projects can you have on DonorsChoose?
A teacher may have up to 10 projects “in progress” at any given time. A project is considered to be “in progress” from the time you submit it to DonorsChoose until we receive your complete Thank-You Package.
Do DonorsChoose items belong to the teacher?
Per the Donors Choose policy, all materials, including technology, are the property of the public school to which they are sent; however, the materials should be given to the teacher who submitted the project. If a free or bonus item is included in the order, that item also belongs to the school.
Can you fund your own DonorsChoose project?
You can donate dollars into your own account without having to pick projects first. You can keep this balance in your account, and use it to fund projects over the next 12 months. These are called Account Credits.
What percentage of DonorsChoose projects get funded?
Seventy percent of all projects DO get funded (not bad, eh?). When your project gets funded, they send you your shopping list and you send back photos of happy students and some thank you notes for your donors.

Who do DonorsChoose items belong to?
Materials funded through DonorsChoose generally belong to the public school or Head Start center at which the teacher is employed when resources are shipped.
What happens if you archive a project on DonorsChoose?
The project will be archived and moved to the “Other archived” tab, on the Projects section of your projects page, where you can view it but you won’t be able to edit or repost it. The points you used to submit this project will be returned to your teacher account.
How long does it take to approve a DonorsChoose project?
After you click submit, we’ll review your project within 5 business days. Once your project has been reviewed, you will receive an email either: Letting you know that your project has been approved and posted (congrats!) OR.
What happens when a DonorsChoose expires?
The day after your project expires, donations from your friends and family will be sent to you as DonorsChoose gift codes to use on your next project. If you received any donations during pre-funding, they’ll be returned to you as account credits.
How does DonorsChoose work?
How Does It Work? At www.donorschoose.org, educators propose an idea for a student project by writing a brief essay and completing some simple forms. Volunteers screen proposals to ensure that projects will directly serve students and to confirm the cost and availability of the resources that the educator requests.
